Who needs to practice some self Love? Unboxing the Books That Matter UK Body Positive Book Box.

Hey guys, apologies for going dark for so long!  I have been abroad for some much needed rest and relaxation but now I am suitably destressed, I am back and ready to jump straight into blogging again.  I returned from my holiday to find the latest Books That Matter UK book box on my door step, so what better way to get back into the routine of blogging again than a good old fashioned unboxing?  What makes it even more perfect, is that this is the ‘Bodyposi box’ which is all about body positivity and self love.  I spent a lot of time while I was away doing some self reflection and one of the things I know I need to work on is my attitude towards myself and my body.

booksmatter self loveI have never had the best relationship with my body, constantly picking flaws and issues, but this was made even worse after the birth if my daughter.  Pregnancy and birth obviously change a woman body and we all enter this knowing that we will be transformed on the other side, sometimes in small ways and sometimes in big ways.  But truthfully, nothing can prepare you for just how changed you are when you become a mother.  I try to remind myself that the stretch marks, the lumps and bumps and the weight are trophies, something to wear with pride because they show I literally MADE a human being.  I try to remind myself that they were all worth it to become a Mother and frankly I would happily have a lot worse if it meant I ended up with my daughter.  But we all know, whether we are men or women, that it is far easier to listen to the negative voices than the positive ones.  We compare ourselves to others, to friends or strangers or people online.  I try to be more body positive, especially now I have a daughter of my own and I am constantly trying to tell her how perfect and beautiful she is in the hopes she does not develop the same issues.

Well I am here to say NO MORE! We are all beautiful no matter our size or skin colour or booksmatter self love 2shape.  Our imperfections are what make us us and I am moving forward with a new found determination to listen to that positive voice more and to shut out the negative one, to stop comparing myself to others and to love myself and my body a lot more! With that in mind, this box’s arrival was timed perfectly and I am so excited to show you guys what’s inside! And if you like the box, you can use MARIE10 to save 10% now!

First and foremost, this is a book box, so let’s take a look at this month’s read: Memoirs of an ex-prom queen by Alix Kates Shulman.  This cult classic was originally published in 1972 and is renowned as one of the first feminist novels:

memoirs ex prom queenSasha Davis has everything a girl in 1950s suburbia could want: beauty, intelligence and an all-star sports captain boyfriend. All she needs to succeed is to keep her skin clear and her intelligence hidden under her Prom Queen tiara.

But when she drops out of college to marry, Sasha soon realises her life has become a fearful countdown to her thirtieth birthday – the year when her beauty will have faded, and life as she knows it will end. As Sasha rebels against her fate, she finds herself experiencing an intellectual and sexual awakening that might be her only chance of outrunning the aging process.

I am surprised I’ve never heard of this one before so thank you to Books That Matter for introducing me to it.  It is definitely soaring straight to the top of my TBR pile! Have any of you read this one?  What did you think?

Alongside this badass book, we have a bunch of other goodies, including this stunningbooks matter self love 3 Bodyposi journal by Talk and Tell filled with writing prompts and exploration pages for self reflection and self love.  The colours remind me of sweets or ice cream and send me all the summer vibes.  This will be getting used daily.  Next up, there is a pastel decal sticker from Lone Owl Studio which states,’Speak Kindly to yourself.’  Wonderful advice! This beauty can be placed on your mirror so you can remind yourself everyday to show yourself some love.  There is also a gorgeous, bright bookmark with a body positive statement of each side and last but certainly not least, a set of self love cards by House of Wonderland.  Each card has an affirmation which can be read aloud, or placed somewhere prominent or even kept somewhere private like your purse or journal, as a reminder to love yourself and show that gorgeous and amazing body of yours some love!

I love the message of this box just as much as I love its contents and I want to thank Books That Matter for continuing to be a positive force in the book world…You Guys rock!! If you would like a box of your own, you can use MARIE10 at check out to save 10%.  I would love to talk to you guys about body positivity and self love so please leave your comments and advice below and don’t forget to subscribe to my blog to stay up to date with my latest posts.

Books That Matter UK Unboxing: The Wild Women Box.

Books That Matter UK Unboxing: The Wild Women Box.

Happy Sunday readers! I apologise for my absence recently but I have been slowing down a little with social media, trying to gain a little perspective. I have however, missed you all terribly so when I got my latest Books That Matter box, I simply had to take the opportunity to do an unboxing post for you guys.

This time, the theme is ‘Wild Women,’ a category in which I feel extremely comfortable myself! The box has been specially curated to explore the themes of ecofeminism, sustainability and our planet. As usual, I am blown away by this box. They have packed it with amazing goodies and a book I am genuinely looking forward to reading. The best news?  You can use code MARIE10 to get 10% off your purchase now! So let’s dig in shall we…

First up, this month’s book is The Word for Women is Wilderness by Abu Andrews. This book follows the nineteen-year-old protagonist Erin in her travels from the Midlands to Iceland, Greenland, Newfoundland and eventually a lonely cabin in the wilds of Alaska where she charts the changing landscapes of her own mind and reimagines not just a woman’s place in society, but humanity’s place on planet earth. It sounds like one Hell of an adventure and one I’m looking forward to delving into.

Next up, we have another great read. This time it’s a zine from the Revival Collective, a Brighton based sustainable fashion collective. It’s called ‘Feminist Fashion Revival’ and is packed with informative articles, fashion inspiration, craftivism as well as guides and facts about the intersection of feminism, fashion, ethics and environmentalism.

Alongside this informative reading, there is a beautiful metal straw by Sugar and Sloth. The straw is a gorgeous ‘oil slick’ colour and is perfect to take to outings and picnics. There is also a vegan shampoo bar in a travel tin by Hairy Jayne hair care. This smells wonderful and the tin can be reused to keep new bars in. Small changes like this and the straw are a great way to reduce waste and do your part to help the environment. There is also a packet of seeds from Wildflower Limited, with a percentage from each packet’s price going to the bumblebee conservation trust. Wild flowers don’t just look and smell beautiful but they are great for attracting local wildlife like our friendly Bees. If you have a little unused or unloved part of the garden just throw these in and watch them grow!

Finally, there is a cute ‘sustainability is a feminist issue’ print and ‘A woman’s place is in the revolution’ bookmark…sentiments I can certainly get behind.

This is another wonderful box from Books that Matter and for the price, their boxes are not only fantastic value but genuinely informative. Plus you can use MARIE10 to save 10% now! You even get to make a small difference to the world with this one so why not grab your own while you can?

As always, don’t forget to subscribe to my blog to stay up to date with all the latest posts and if you want to see an unboxing video of this box along with pics of bookish goodies galore, head to my Instagram!!

Unboxing May’s Fantasy & Scifi Box From My Chronicle Book Box.

Unboxing May’s Fantasy & Scifi Box From My Chronicle Book Box.

Hello Readers!  I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend.  For this evening’s blog mychronbookboxpost, I will be unboxing this month’s My Chronicle Book box Science Fiction and Fantasy box and what a box this is!  As always, if you fancy grabbing a box of your own, use code MIRRORS10 for 10% off.

So, let’s start with the amazing books shall we?  As always, this box contains three amazing books (Yes, you read that right, THREE books) and all of them are signed…I know right?  What more could you ask for?

thingsinjarsBook number one is Things in Jars by Jess Kidd.  This is a hardback (I love a good hardback, don’t you?) and as I said, it is signed by the author herself.  So what’s it about? “London, 1863. Bridie Devine, the finest female detective of her age, is taking on her toughest case yet. Reeling from her last job and with her reputation in tatters, a remarkable puzzle has come her way. Christabel Berwick has been kidnapped. But Christabel is no ordinary child. She is not supposed to exist.  As Bridie fights to recover the stolen child she enters a world of fanatical anatomists, crooked surgeons and mercenary showmen. Anomalies are in fashion, curiosities are the thing, and fortunes are won and lost in the name of entertainment. The public love a spectacle and Christabel may well prove the most remarkable spectacle London has ever seen.  Things in Jars is an enchanting Victorian detective novel that explores what it is to be human in inhumane times.”  Frankly,  all I needed to hear was the phrase Victorian Detective Novel and I was in.

terratwoBook number 2, which is also a signed hardback, is Do you Dream of Terra-Two? by Temi Oh: A century ago, scientists theorised that a habitable planet existed in a nearby solar system. Today, ten astronauts will leave a dying Earth to find it. Four are decorated veterans of the 20th century’s space-race. And six are teenagers, graduates of the exclusive Dalton Academy, who’ve been in training for this mission for most of their lives.
It will take the team twenty-three years to reach Terra-Two. Twenty-three years spent in close quarters. Twenty-three years with no one to rely on but each other. Twenty-three years with no rescue possible, should something go wrong. And something always goes wrong. This one sounds genuinely exciting so I am looking forward to reading it.

witchs kindLast, but certainly not least, book number three is The Witch’s Kind by Louisa Morgan and again this one is signed (this time coming with a signed author plate): Barrie Anne Blythe and her Aunt Charlotte have always known that the other residents of their small coastal community find them peculiar – two women living alone on the outskirts of town. It is the price of concealing their strange and dangerous family secret. But two events threaten to upend their lives for ever. The first is the arrival of a mysterious abandoned baby with a hint of power like their own. The second is the sudden reappearance of Barrie Anne’s long-lost husband – who is not quite the man she thought she married.Together, Barrie Anne and Charlotte must decide how far they are willing to go to protect themselves – and the child they think of as their own – from suspicious neighbours, the government and even their own family .  Anyone who follows my Instagram will know I have a slight obsession with all things Witchy, so I am definitely looking forward to this one.

But there isn’t just books in this amazing box, there are also bookish goodies and what mychron2wonderful goodies they are!  Along with the THREE signed books, there is also an adorable print with an inspiring quote from the legendary Stephen Hawking, “Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet.” Wise words indeed!  There is also a very good sized fabric ‘Books are Magic’ pouch which would be perfect for cosmetics, toiletries or stationary.  Lastly, there is a set of three galaxy print Wasi tapes, in blue, purple and red.  These items are not only lovely on their own, but they perfectly compliment both the theme of the box and the books within it.

So what do you think of this box?  Have you read any of the books?  What did you think of them?  Leave me a comment and don’t forget to subscribe to my blog to keep up to date with all my latest posts.  Finally, if you like the look of the My Chronicle Book Box (of which you can get a Crime and Mystery themed box or Fantasy and Science Fiction themed box) use the code MIRRORS10 for 10% off now.

Riddle’s Tea Shoppe: The Marauders Tea Gang Unboxing.

Riddle’s Tea Shoppe: The Marauders Tea Gang Unboxing.

Anyone who follows me on Instagram will be aware that I have a bit of an obsession with Harry Potter.  I read the books growing up and I have an ever growing collection of Harry Potter merchandise.  You will also have noticed that I have a slight addiction to tea, because I prescribe to the philosophy of my fellow Northern Irish writer C.S.Lewis: “You can’t get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me.”  There is no better combination than a great book and a steaming cuppa, so when someone combines the wizarding world of Harry Potter I adore so much with magical tea blends and I am literally in heaven.  Enter Riddle’s Tea Shoppe.  I have been a long time fan of these guys, following and drooling over their Instagram pictures since I joined a couple of years ago but given that postage to the UK can be quite expensive, I had never got myself any of the delicious teas I so yearned for.  Hadn’t until now that is.  I have spent the week sick in bed and frankly I deserved a treat, so I purchased the Marauders Tea Gang box, a box dedicated to and inspired by the original Hogwarts Marauder’s James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew aka Messers Mooney, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs.  So, after saying the magical words, “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good” I have been able to enter this wonderful box and discover the treasures within.

marauder 2First up, the box contains four delicious teas.  Each one is named after and inspired by the Marauders themselves and they couldn’t be more perfect.  The Padfoot blend is a bold breakfast tea with a kick, the Prongs blend is sweet, spicy and somewhat dangerous, the Moony blend is earl grey and chocolate for moonlight sipping (of course) and last but definitely not least, the Wormtail blend ‘tastes like betrayal’ because it is decaf.  That last one genuinely made me laugh out loud.  The packaging is designed beautifully, I love that they are red and each flavour truly encapsulates the characters they represent.  I cannot wait to try them all, particularly Moony’s flavour as he is my favourite of the Marauders.

Alongside these delicious teas, there is a selection of tattoos depicting the same gorgeous marauder1character illustrations from the tea packets along with a few other magical images.  I love a good press on tattoo so expect to see those popping up in future Instagram photos.  There is also a Marauder’s Tea Gang vinyl sticker and enamel pin badge.  The badge is adorable, with a glittered background and my main man Moony on it.  I will definitely wear it with pride.  All the items are listed on the adorable card pictured above with that magical oath printed on it, which I may frame to be honest, because one can never have enough Harry Potter related pictures up in their office.  Honorary mention also goes to the box itself which is so sweet.  I really appreciate the details here and the clear effort and thought that went into every thing, even something as simple as the packaging.  Overall, this is a fabulous box and it has definitely encouraged me to make further purchases from Mr Riddle in the future.  Now, if you will excuse me, I have a date with some tea….

Unboxing: Books that Matter Book Box, the feminist book subscription box.

Unboxing: Books that Matter Book Box, the feminist book subscription box.

booksmatter1Happy Sunday everyone, I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  For this evening’s post, I have an unboxing which I am particularly excited about.  I had never heard of the ‘Books that Matter‘ books subscription box until the founder Molly contacted me and Kindly offered to gift me this month’s box.  After checking out their website and reading about their philosophy, I jumped at the chance! You see, this isn’t your average book subscription box, this is a box with a mission.  This is a woman ran book box who is determined to not only promote great female identifying writers and artists, but seriously marginalised ones such as women of colour, transgender authors, less able women and queer women.  Each box contains a book chosen in order to enlighten the reader on themes of gender, race, culture, class, ethnicity, ability, sexuality, politics, or history, alongside at least two gifts by independent female-identifying or non-binary artists. In short, this is the ultimate feminist book box!  I am so excited by this ethos.  In a world which seems to be filled with so much hate, bigotry, discrimination and marginalisation, it is wonderful to find a company which is determined to promote those voices which are heard less and writers and artists who are all too often overlooked.  I was practically giddy when my box arrived and I saw how wonderful it is, living up to my very lofty expectations.  In fact, I was so impressed, I asked Molly if I could interview her for a future blog post and collaborate again soon with a giveaway (HELL YEAH) and on guest blog posts, so keep an eye out!  But the best bit?  This book subscription box is the cheapest I have ever come across.  At only £13 for the box it is serious value for money and as if things couldn’t get any better, Molly is offering 10% off your first box with discount code MARIE10, so you have no excuse not to immediately buy one!

Whilst I could gush about this box all day, perhaps I should get around to the all booksmatter4important unboxing!  So what did my fabulous feminist box contain?  First up, the all important piece of literature.  This month’s book is Good Morning Midnight by Jean Rhys. Now anyone who follows me on Instagram will know that I am OBSESSED with penguin classics and that I have an ever growing and very beloved collection of the vintage beauties, so I was so very happy to find this stunner in my box.  So let’s take a look at that all important blurb to get a feel for this 1939 modernist classic:

In 1930s Paris, where one cheap hotel room is very like another, a young woman is teaching herself indifference. She has escaped personal tragedy and has come to France to find courage and seek independence. She tells herself to expect nothing, especially not kindness, least of all from men. Tomorrow, she resolves, she will dye her hair blonde. Jean Rhys was a talent before her time with an impressive ability to express the anguish of young, single women. In Good Morning, Midnight Rhys created the powerfully modern portrait of Sophia Jansen, whose emancipation is far more painful and complicated than she could expect, but whose confession is flecked with triumph and elation. One of the most honest and distinctive British novelists of the twentieth century, Jean Rhys wrote about women with perception and sensitivity in an innovative and often controversial way.

This novel sounds truly inspirational and as a lover of classic literature, I am very excited to read it.  I have read a little about the author and she found her fame with a book depicting an account of Jane Eyre‘s Bertha Rochester and since Jane Eyre is my favourite book, this has gone straight to the top of my wish list, so the box was a total success as far as I’m concerned- I discovered a new writer to get to know!

booksmatter3Along with the book, I got three gorgeous bookish items.  First up, is a sew on patch by Karen from ‘A Rose Cast.’  I am already familiar with this artist and I’m a big fan, because she is a Belfast Lass like me!  The quotation is an Emily Dickinson quote about searching for one’s true self amidst the darkness of life.  It reads, “I am out with lanterns looking for myself.”  I love Karen’s fonts and this black and gold patch is just lovely!  I just have to decide what to sew it onto now.  There was also a super cute bookmark which celebrates mental health awareness month and as someone who suffers from anxiety and depression, I appreciate that the ladies of the ‘Books that Matter’ box stand in solidarity with ladies such as myself who find themselves struggling sometimes.  It’s also an important reminder of self care- remember, if you find yourself struggling, don’t do so alone!  Speak to someone, seek help and remember, you are stronger than you know!

The second item is an enamel pin, which I was very impressed with given how expensivebooksmatter2 they can be!  The pin is by the ‘Books that Matter’ in house artist Kate, an obviously very talented woman, which says, “Don’t be so hard on yourself.”  A simple but important message for us all, and something I often need to remind myself.

On a minor side note, I love the box itself, with the very cool illustrations of female bookworms on it- I felt very special receiving it in the post and it immediately brightened my day when it arrived.

So there you have it guys, a feminist book subscription box that promotes female identifying and marginalised writers that contains an awesome book and beautiful bookish goodies by independent artists and which is super good value for money to boot!! Perfection!  Don’t forget to use MARIE10 for 10% off at the checkout and keep an eye out for the interview with the fabulous Molly Masters, the box’s creator…in fact, why not subscribe to my blog so you never miss out on my unboxing, book reviews and pieces of original writing!  For now, have a wonderful day and happy reading!

UnBoxing & Interview: My Chronicle Book Box.

UnBoxing & Interview: My Chronicle Book Box.

Hello readers!  It’s Sunday afternoon here in Ireland and boy do I have a treat in store for you.  For this weeks blog post, not only will I be unboxing November’s My Chronicle Book Box, which is one Hell of a box by the way, but I will also be featuring an interview with the creator of and force behind the book box, the lovely Louise.  So, make yourself a cuppa, put your feet up and enjoy….

mcbb-nov-2This month’s box features not one, not two, but THREE books, two of which are hardbacks.  First up and with a truly drool worthy cover, we have The Corset by Laura Purcell:  Dorothea and Ruth.  Prison visitor and prisoner. Powerful and powerless.  Dorothea Truelove is young, wealthy and beautiful. Ruth Butterham is young, poor and awaiting trial for murder.
When Dorothea’s charitable work leads her to Oakgate Prison, she is delighted to have the chance to explore her fascination with phrenology and test her hypothesis that the shape of a person’s skull can cast a light on their darkest crimes. But when she meets teenage seamstress Ruth, she is faced with another theory: that it is possible to kill with a needle and thread. For Ruth attributes her crimes to a supernatural power inherent in her stitches.  The story Ruth has to tell of her deadly creations – of bitterness and betrayal, of death and dresses – will shake Dorothea’s belief in rationality, and the power of redemption.  Can Ruth be trusted? Is she mad, or a murderer?

Next, we have Believe me by J.P.Delaney:  Claire Wright likes to play other people.
A British drama student, in New York without a green card, Claire takes the only job she can get: working for a firm of divorce lawyers, posing as an easy pick-up in hotel bars to entrap straying husbands.  When one of her targets becomes the subject of a murder investigation, the police ask Claire to use her acting skills to help lure their suspect into a confession. But right from the start, she has doubts about the part she’s being asked to play. Is Patrick Fogler really a killer . . . Or the only decent husband she’s ever met? And is there more to this set-up than she’s being told?  And that’s when Claire realises she’s playing the deadliest role of her life . . .

Last, but not least, we have Cold Breath by Quentin Blake:  Gunnhildur reluctantly allows herself to be taken off police duties to act as bodyguard to a man with a price on his head.  Hidden away in a secure house outside Reykjavík, Gunna and the high-profile stranger, a guest of the interiors minister, are thrown together – too close for comfort. They soon find they are neither as safe nor as carefully hidden as Gunna and her boss had thought. Conflicting glimpses of the man’s past start to emerge as the press begin to sniff him out, as does another group with their own reasons for locating him. Gunna struggles to come to terms with protecting the life of a man who may have the lives of many on his conscience – or indeed may be the philanthropist he claims to be.  Isolated together, the friction grows between Gunna and the foreign visitor, and she realises they are out of their depth as the trails lead from the house outside Reykjavík to Brussels, Russia and the Middle East.

As if this wasn’t good enough, we get a signed book plate from two of the authors (Laura Purcell and Quentin Blake) to make them extra special.  All three of these books are right up my street and are perfect for curling up with under a warm blanket and getting lost between the pages.  I love nothing better than a good crime thriller during a cold winter’s day, what about you?

MCBB Nov 5Along with these gorgeous books, there is a whole host of specially selected bookish goodies.  First up, there is this fabulous Phrenology print inspired by one of the featured books, The Corset by Laura Purcell.  I have a bit of an obsession with all things Victorian so this one will be going right on my wall.

Next, we have a divine smelling candle by Bookworm Candles and Crafts called ‘Cosy Winter Reads.’  Perfect to set that cosy reading atmosphere, this candle smells and looks beautiful.  Finally we have two bookmarks- first a set of Murder Mystery page markers by That Company Called IF.  Each one features a crime based image, with my personal favourite being the chalk body outline!  Second, we have a cute little 2019 crime themed calendar bookmark, perfect for keeping track of the days lost in reading.

This is the second My Chronicle Book Box I have received and it’s even better than the last one.  It is so evident the amount of care and thought put into every one, from the way each book is individually wrapped, to the wax sealed letter, to the beautiful items themselves, I am seriously impressed.  I have got a lot of book boxes over the years and this one truly is exceptional.  Check them out now and use my discount code MIRRORS10 for 10% off now…trust me, you won’t regret it.

So who is the incredible woman behind this amazing book box?  I had the pleasure of getting to know Louise while we have been collaborating and the more I got to know her, the more impressed and inspired I was…she is basically superwoman!  She has been kind enough to let me interview her for this blog post, so you could get to know her too….

mcbb-interview.jpgTell us about the MCBB team.

Primarily the MCBB team is well… me! I do get a lot of help and support from my wonderful husband whose many talents extend to website design and the technical side of operating our business/website.  I recently resigned from my sensible, secure job in accountancy to concentrate on My Chronicle Book Box and I spend my days selecting books, liaising with wonderful publishers, authors and suppliers, wrapping books, packing boxes, and taking care of my three childre

What inspired you to start My Chronicle Book Box?

I am a devoted book lover and spent much of my spare time reading and reviewing a wide variety of books. I loved the whole idea of book subscriptions and helping others discover new books and authors. I watched and read about many unboxings on social media and yet I never subscribed to one. I got to wondering why not and realised that most of the unboxings I had seen were focused on young adult fiction and that many of the subscriptions available were not focused on my favourite genres. The majority of the books on my bookshelves are crime novels or science fiction and fantasy based, or a diabolical combination of the two!

From the nebulous idea that I would like a book box tailored to my own interests the idea for My Chronicle Book Box grew. I began thinking about what I would like in my own book box and through chatting with friends and family I found I was not the only one who would like to buy such a subscription box for themselves or as gifts for others.

Add to that a long-held desire to run my own business and here we are!

What makes it different to other subscription boxes?

There are a few things that give our box its own character and set us apart from some of the other subscription boxes. We only include the latest releases and every box has author exclusives such as signed books, signed book plates, interviews and letters making the boxes extra special.

I like to give the boxes a personal touch each containing a personalised letter and envelope sealed with a wax seal which we stamp ourselves. I also gift wrap every book that goes into the subscription boxes and take great care on the packing so that every box is like receiving a gift.

The genres we offer set us apart from other boxes too, you can choose between crime & mystery and sci-fi & fantasy (my favourites!).

How do you decide what books and bookish goodies to include in your boxes?

This is a crazy juggling act and really, really difficult! There are so many great books and bookish goodies out there all of which I would love to include 😊

I spend a lot of time reviewing publisher schedules, reading ARCs, finding out author availability, drinking tea, chatting with book-loving friends, reading book blogs and keeping up with industry news to identify trends and possible book choices.

Then I have to consider what combination of books will work together, what will physically fit in the box, the budget (unfortunately), the time frame needed by suppliers, etc, etc…

I do have a few guiding principles for my choices:

  1. I read all the books that go into the boxes before making the final decision.
  2. The books have to be new releases preferably in the 3 months prior to be boxes shipping which reduces the risk of subscribers having already read the books.
  3. The books also must be standalone, I don’t want to include books that would require our subscribers to go and read previous books in order to enjoy the book they receive from us.
  4. In terms of goodies I like them to add to the reading experience and I like to include things that tie in to the selected books and/or the genre of the boxes whenever I can.

Speaking of which, if authors and businesses wanted to be in your awesome box, can they approach you?

Absolutely! Authors, designers, makers and suppliers are always welcome to drop us an email at contact@mychroniclebookbox.comor contact us via social media letting us know what they can offer or suggesting how we could collaborate.

What’s next for MCBB?

We have grown a lot in the last year or so and as I say I am now focussing on the business full time (or as full time as three young children allows!). This should allow me to share my love of books and reading with more and more subscribers while maintaining the charm and personal touch of our boxes.

I’m also planning more single purchase special boxes celebrating books, authors and series that we are already in love with by commissioning special items to accompany new releases. Our A Discovery of Witches special edition book box was the first of this kind and went down a storm – we had to curate a second batch it proved so popular!
